Planet of the Apes was filmed in 1968. Have you seen the original Planet of the Apes movie? It's a sci fi classic. In this sci fi film, an astronaut crew crash-lands on a strange planet in the distant future. Although the planet appears desolate at first, the surviving crew members stumble upon a society in which apes have evolved into creatures with human-like intelligence and speech.

At the end of the movie Charlton Heston discovers that he is not on another planet but has arrived on Earth in the future long after a terrible apocalypse.
